My grandmother has Alzheimer’s disease. It’s hard when I talk to her, sometimes she won’t even know who I am, other times she won’t know what year it is. Every year, someone in my family sponsors a walker from the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk so that we can hopefully one day find a cure for this disease. We’ve been doing it since it started up in 1989. We’ve donated about $9000 out of the $225 million that the walk has raised total since starting. And this year will not be any different.
I encourage everyone out there to help with the Memory Walk. If you really want to help out, then sign up as a Team Captain. Spots are going fast so you will want to sign up early. I might sign up as a Team Captain to help other people who are going through the same things that I am. I have even been trying to get Sean to donate some of his time and money too, because his grandmother had Alzheimer’s disease as well. He doesn’t know yet, but when I told his aunt about it, she climbed right on board and is donating some money herself due to the fact that her father is becoming forgetful in his old age. Apparently she didn’t know where she was for a week because he didn’t pick up the phone whenever anyone called.
Please find it in your hearts to donate your time or money to this cause, it isn’t just the people who have it that suffer, it is the families too.
