When my grandmother passed away about 15 years ago, she left me with numerous shares of her stocks that she’d purchased over the years. She considered this an insurance policy - so to speak. For years I was unaware of them, when I turned 18 my father handed me the paperwork. I’ve got shares in AT&T and numerous other companies that I was unaware of. Right now they only total about $10,000 to $15,000. Which is absolutely amazing, and I am currently looking for a house but I think I should leave things where they are for the time being, maybe in the future when I’m looking to retire, I’ll consider it. For now, however, I’ll keep it as my security blanket, in case something serious ever happened. Moving to a new state, while expensive, isn’t really going to break the bank.
