Thinking of buying some exercise equipment
Recently, Sean and I purchased a Wii and before I even knew what hit me I was up and moving around in ways that I hadn’t in quite some time. By default the console comes with 5 sports games, I spent most of last night Boxing to work off a lot of aggression and apparently 2 more pounds as of this mornings weigh in. It’s been almost a week since my last weigh in but something today told me that I needed to hop on the scale and validate that feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Knowing full well that the Wii can’t give me everything I was looking for, I’ve been poking around the net looking for exercise equipment and came across fitness-superstore.co.uk. They have everything from rowing machines to elliptical cross trainers and exercise bikes. Everything is reasonably priced, based on a trusty currency converter so I could see what the US based prices would be. I would love to own an exercise bike though, considering the very long walks I’m sure my legs can handle an hour or so a day on a bike.
For a while now I’ve been waiting on the main office of the community to get the club house up and running. They’ve been telling the residents for the last two years that they were going to have both the gym and the pool setup by early 2007. That came and went. The club house is standing, the hole for the pool has been dug out and even some parts of it are completed as far as laying cement is concerned but now there’s a notice telling us that we can take our community card and go to their sibling community just to use their pool. However, we’re still unable to get into the club house to use the equipment. It’s not even in there at the moment though so that makes the building completely useless to us.
This is why Sean and I spend so much time walking because joining a gym in a resort community is just priced way too high for us and at the same time, there aren’t any major fitness chains surrounding us either. I wouldn’t mind Bally’s or even Jenny Craig for that matter. Both of those chains have a pretty major following, minus the fact that they’re rather pricey as well.
But, I’ve been doing very well with just food portions and exercise. I am considering purchasing an exercise bike though, I just need to figure out where exactly I plan on placing it. The house is loaded up enough as is. I know I’m marrying him and all but would it be wrong to get rid of his side of the office so I could put in a small gym there? heh.
Paintball can actually be a good work out!
For a few years now, I’ve been interested in learning more about paintball. It looks like it could be a lot of fun for all age groups of men and women alike. A friend of mine used to go every weekend with his father and he said it’s not only a great work out when you’re on the course, but it helps your hand-eye coordination as well. So I’ve been reading into many resources about the subject because one day I’d like for Sean and I to try it out.
One of the first things I’ve looked into are guns, and I’ve managed to come across Spider paintball guns which are really cool looking. I came across a set for around $179 that includes everything, my issue is that I don’t really understand what any of it does. All I really know is that if you’re going to use a paintball gun, you’re going to need a helmet and proper padding. The gun’s can come in many different colors, I found a Blue one that I thought was rather cool looking so that’s good enough for me.
Another paintball gun that I found interesting was the Spyder VS3. It’s an all black gun that looks rather small but I’m sure up close it’s a monster, you can’t really tell that well with the pictures found. Most of the sets that are sold I’m unsure if all of the images are pictured in true size or if they were multiple pictures morphed together for the sake of creating the set. Then there’s the Spyder Pilot which is a black and red combination that I’m literally falling head over heals for. I love the color red, half of my closet is filled with multiple shades of red so naturally being the girl that I am, I’d make it a point for not only the shoes to match the purse, but the purse to match the paintball gun. That may sound a little strange but I’m itching to get myself onto the course.
Originally when I saw, Spyder paintball, I assumed that it was the name of the game played, I was unaware of the fact that it’s actually Spyder paintball guns, a brand name. There are many other brands to choose from though. There’s also a brand named Tippmann but I didn’t personally find any of those paintball guns to be appealing. Just because it’s main purpose is to shoot multi-colored paint pellets, doesn’t mean they can’t look good too.
The one thing I haven’t found out, however, is in regards to the actual paint balls themselves. Do all of the canisters come in multiple colors or can you have ‘ammo’ that is based solidly on one color? Say you’re out on the course and you’re on the blue team, you’re playing against the red team…can each team have pellets that are based primarily on the color of their team? I’d think it’d be strange to be hit with a blue pellet when you’re on the blue team; How would you know that your own team member didn’t accidentally shoot at you? Maybe I should do some more reading into this before I load up on the gear and head for the course, shouldn’t I?
I know down here it’s a very popular past-time, this whole state is filled with gun lovers of all ages for both hunting and painball so naturally they would be the ones to go to for advice, however I’m sure they’d consider me a ‘city girl’ and take me for all I’m worth. This is why I find the internet to be such a valuable resource when it comes to thinks like this. This way I’m not taken advantage of by any means necessary.
I’m proud of myself!
Sean and I wound up going out to lunch after all. Originally I wanted to stay in because I know he hasn’t slept much in the last 24 hours, he literally just crashed about 20 minutes ago and that was around his 25th hour of being awake. I told him repeatedly that he should just go to sleep but he’s a stubborn man and wound up staying awake anyway.
I did well at lunch. I had a grilled chicken salad and left most of the chicken behind (I’ve been eating chicken almost every night for the last few weeks) I had just a light oil and vinegar based dressing, barely even tasting it for that matter. I requested lemon juice but unfortunately they didn’t have it. I’m still doing damn good with portion control, I left about half of the salad on the plate. The waitress had no idea that I was even done, she kind of avoided the table until we called her over.
I’ve moved myself back to the laptop for a little while, unfortunately I’m no longer used to typing on such small keys now that my desktop has kind of turned into my primary computer. No big deal though, everything seems to be working out just fine. It’s rather warm in the house so I don’t know if it was a good idea to boot this up or not considering it kicks out a lot of heat, even when it’s not plugged in. I haven’t booted this thing in almost three weeks and there’s still over 75% battery life left to it - guess that counts for something.
But since my wrist is locking up from the smaller keys, guess I should shift myself back to the desktop and get some design work done…heh.
My laptop’s acting funny.
Lately I’ve been having a few issues with my laptop that are starting to drive me crazy. A big issue, however, is the fact that my external hard drive is acting up as well so I really have no way of backing up my files and then getting myself back on track with a clean reinstall of windows. I’ve come across a company where you can do an Online Backup of your files but I’m unsure of how secure they currently are. I know I’m only going to need to do the back-up for maybe a half hour at most but this doesn’t discount the fact that I have client-based data on my laptop either. I’ve been using the desktop for quite some time just so I could avoid all of this but considering the fact that Sean and I are basically on each other’s nerve for the last few days, it’s safe to say I’ll be spending a little less time in the office.
So I’m poking around the idrive.com website where you can learn about how to get yourself 2gb of online storage for free or the option of unlimited storage for $4.95 a month. I’m not quite sure if I would require unlimited storage considering I’m over-loaded with use able hard drives it’s just too much effort at the moment to open my case, pop in a new hard-drive, format it, network it and then go through the process of transferring my laptop files over and then reinstalling windows, putting the files back on or figuring out what’s wrong with the external hard drive - it’s just a whole series of complicated trips that I need to take. Maybe I will wind up taking the free route with this program after-all. It couldn’t hurt…right?
That felt pretty good.
I’m finding myself going longer distances without stopping. This is a really good feeling considering I’ve only lost a few pounds. I did another weigh-in tonight because I’m convinced that the scale hates me and it told me that the 3 pounds I thought I gained were gone and I’m down to 440. I’m seriously considering a new scale. There’s a different number every single day on that little bugger. I don’t like digital scales, I don’t even know why I have one. I think there’s going to be a future trip to Walmart so I can pick up one of the ‘older model’ scales with the swing arm that tell you the second you step on the bugger exactly how much you weigh.
I did some surfing through the new blog roll and there are quite a few blogs that stood out for me. I think I’m going to have a great time reading through all of these blogs over the next few days. I can’t wait, I may do a few more tonight.
