Lapband Surgery

LapbandDo you know anyone who’s gone through with Gastric Bypass Surgery? Have you personally gone through it yourself? I’m interested in knowing more about this procedure from a first-hand standpoint. No, I’m not interested in getting it but you can’t get any general surgery information with the resources they have online. I’d kind of like to see the procedure done but I doubt I’d ever be allowed in an operating room for that to happen.

I’m just curious about it because I keep coming across links for like lapband los angeles and then I’m unable to locate any real information about the procedure itself. Yes, there’s a band around the stomach that’s adjustable and they also move some things around but what exactly is moved around? I’m a medical fanatic so anything that involves cutting someone open has my full attention. I’m freaky like that, yes, but I also know that I can handle blood and guts better than many nurses I’ve had in the past.

I need Medical Insurance, since I don’t live in France!

Sean and I haven’t been bringing in enough money where we’re sure that we can stand on our own two feet. Sure, both of us pull at least 8 hour days but that doesn’t mean the average of $1200 a month coming in from both of us is really getting anywhere. As far as bills are concerned I’m losing about $500 a month. So that only really leaves $700 a month to be put towards rent, food and then utilities depending on where we end up. He also has about $300 a month going out in bills which leaves him with about $800. There’s no chance in hell that it’s possible to live with an active savings account at this point in time. So we’ve been looking into other routes.

With my ability to legally drive in Delaware, I’ve been searching for a few different jobs in the area so I can work out of the house and get myself the oh-so-important medical benefits that I so desperately need. If I’m unable to find that, I’m still surfing around sites that offer the ability to search for different Traditional Healthcare Options just so I can get my foot in the door with any doctors office I choose. For a while I was just considering Medicare and paring it off with a newer company called value dental where for about $10 a month you’re fully covered when it comes to dental work. I’m so tempted to move to Canada or France at this point, just for the sake of having free health care and knocking it out of my “to do” list, you know?

I’m waiting patiently for a list to show up from the site I listed above, supposedly they’ve matched me up with a few different companies here and there. I did actually find one of interest for $95 a month. It’s Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware. Dental and “female” specialists are included, which is more than great for me. I’ll have to make it a point to save the site onto my laptop when I can get back on it.

The thing I like about this particular site (advantagemedicalquotes.com) is the ability to view all of my options, which is great for someone who is Self Employed, that was one of the first links I saw on the site so I could read into it. I do believe I’ll be going through BCBSDE but we’ll have to see.

I’ll admit, I’ve also been looking through Family Insurance Policies as well, Sean doesn’t have insurance and I know that since we have been speaking about marriage that a lot of things are going to have to merge at some point in time and having health insurance for someone who is in need of some serious medical attention (no matter how stubborn he is) is just a good idea.

Toothache.

PPPI’ve had problems with my teeth for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, I didn’t have dental insurance until I was 17 years-old, and by then - most of the damage had already been done. Quite a few molars are gone and one tooth in the front is in horrible condition. I’ve had temp fillings fall out on me and thanks to that I’ve had root canals get reinfected and a months worth of very strong antibiotics was the only thing the dentist could do for me based on the abscess taking over the right side of my face.

I’ve seen quite a few products in the stores where you can refill your filling. Using some kind of temporary dental repair system is the way that many people go if they’re unable to get to their dentist but want to avoid having an exposed nerve on a chipped tooth or something. So you can go to the store and pick up some kind of a cement thing that bonds to your teeth until you can get to the dentist. It protects the tooth and is sometimes so disgusting to use it’s unreal. It comes in a liquid form that you have to put into a mold and then kind of go from there. This is a reason why I always had an emergency dental visit - this way I could just get in and get out so I could avoid using these products.

Today I came across Dentemp OS, it’s the same kind of technique but the difference with this particular product - you can actually eat with it in your mouth. The whole process takes about 60 minutes. But that’s as far as “setting” time is concerned. Based on the directions you remove it from it’s plastic vial and just push it onto the tooth. Within 30 minutes of setting you can eat on it. I personally would wait the hour out but that’s just me. If I’m already in pain, being able to throw some food down my throat isn’t exactly the route I’m going to take - you know?

It’s FDA approved and it’s over the counter in many stores. I think you can even order it online.

Cutting it Close…

Based on a recent email from HSBC, I’ve been informed that I’m approved for the loan that I applied for last week. Sean and I will be heading up to New York so I can go to the bank with my father (co-signer). Even though there is an HSBC in both New York and Delaware, they require the borrowers to be in the same place at the same time. I guess I can understand why they do it this way, but this doesn’t mean that I like it. I didn’t have any taxes to file last year, other than winnings in Atlantic City so I’m kind of hoping they don’t require tax forms on my behalf and they can just use my fathers. If this doesn’t work out, I’ve been poking around the Internet in search for a payday lender. Maybe I’ll get lucky and can just take a quick $1,000 to pay back by the end of the month and we’ll still be on our way out to Ohio so we can work on a mortgage out there. :crosses fingers:

PPPWhen my grandmother passed away about 15 years ago, she left me with numerous shares of her stocks that she’d purchased over the years. She considered this an insurance policy - so to speak. For years I was unaware of them, when I turned 18 my father handed me the paperwork. I’ve got shares in AT&T and numerous other companies that I was unaware of. Right now they only total about $10,000 to $15,000. Which is absolutely amazing, and I am currently looking for a house but I think I should leave things where they are for the time being, maybe in the future when I’m looking to retire, I’ll consider it. For now, however, I’ll keep it as my security blanket, in case something serious ever happened. Moving to a new state, while expensive, isn’t really going to break the bank.

Today I came across MyWallSt.net, they’re currently running the rookie challenge. It’s free registration and participation. Those who join are given a free hat. It’s a fantasy investing game where winners earn real money, $1000 per week based on the last thing I read. You don’t have to invest any of your own money but you can be involved in the financial social network for those interested in investing. They’re currently looking for new members so head on over and see if you’re interested.
